During the practice on this assignment with my group we did the first recording without any preparation, the second one was just asking random questions and answering the same question all of us one by one and the last meeting was a final recording. Looking at the recording and analyzing myself from the side shows me that there is a real improvement, and I am happy to see that this practice helps, but still I am not satisfied with the following:
1) I do not like that I am not able to sit without moving, these movements look nervous. I would like to improve it and hope after more practice it will be much more professional.
2) I need to improve my emotions and facial expressions.
3) I need to improve my answers for failure examples and my weak qualities. It looks like I am talking about something that should be negative, but my examples are not good enough.
4) List of questions to ask interviewer, I feel like it was not enough for the real interview.
The list of things I really improved and went well:
1) My answers most of the time use the STAR method. The answers are very descriptive with examples of what and how I did to achieve my goals. The real success of the answers is to use this method. This method allows you to provide more details to the interviewer by allowing the entire process of your experience.
2) Each practice helped me to feel more confident. I am a very shy person; I do not like to talk about myself and in front of the camera it becomes much more difficult. So, comparing the first experience and the second one I would say that I made a significant improvement in myself.
3) I learned a lot about this process, more detailed and more structured. I enjoyed our group work on this assignment, I learned a lot from Kaylee and Taranbir, I was impressed how professional they are, and this example of my classmates helped me to make my own improvement.
4) I love that we practiced a lot with several types of questions, we asked a lot of unplanned questions during our meetings and this experience helped us to prepare for the final interview recording.
5) I knew very well about the position I applied for and was able to mention related to chosen position skills that I have and used in real life.
6) I had a copy of the resume and cover letter with me.
7) I was calm, positive and engaged in this conversation. My nonverbal actions during the interview send a positive and professional message.
While working on this assignment I learned an especially important thing - that everything can be improved by just practicing and trying to reach our goals. If we do not like something we just need to put some effort into it and to do as much practice as possible, our practice builds our personal development and confidence. I will use this reflection for future job interviews, it will help me to get into the process with a much clearer idea of what to do, how to prepare myself and steps to improve.
