The Inspire conference started for me a month before the day of the conference, as I was volunteering in Damien's Altenburg team of Influencers. For me to join volunteering was a difficult decision, as I knew I did not have enough time, but I decided to join the team where I can try it and the capacity of my work won't affect other people.
I enjoyed being in Damien's team. He is a great person and gave us all his support so as not to feel stressed about the conference. The day of the conference we had an opportunity to meet each other and to enjoy this day.
I met amazing people, who I met only online and there was a feeling that we have known each other for a long time. For me, the most important inspiration was to meet all our students and to realize that doing more than I am already doing is possible. These amazing people practiced a lot of days and hours to organize the conference room, to have an interview with speakers, they met speakers before and realizing this amount of effort is impressive.
At the previous conference I was impressed by the speakers, this conference I was impressed by our amazing students. I am proud to be a part of our Red River College community.
Of course, I have impressions as well from speakers. I joined the session led by our student Cole Cianflone with the speaker Danny Pehar. Danny's field of interest is security. His interview was very inspiring, he did not talk only about security, but explained how everyone can succeed in different fields of interests. The most useful for me were his simple and practical tips. He reminded me that not understanding it is OK, and asking questions is normal. It is important to ask questions, more likely that we are not alone who did not understand it, there are other people who also need this explanation, but feel uncomfortable to ask. During work it is important to be organized enough, to be brave enough to tell what you do not understand, to inform if you won't be able to finish in time, to be able to ask for help etc. These tips are really the best for all of us to be a real professional.
I hope to attend the next conference and to try something more challenging, as I need to overcome my fear of being in public. I am very inspired by this experience and wish to be more productive in my everyday life. Thanks to all those people who worked hard to make such a wonderful day.
